Founded in 2017 by Rendria Labde (founder) and Arunee Sarasetsiri (co-founder), Magalarva is an Indonesian black soldier fly company with a mission to reintegrate food waste into the food system through bio-conversion processes carried out by Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Larvae.

These bio-conversion processes convert food waste into a high-protein body mass of BSF larvae, which we then process further into BSF products such as dried BSF larvae, BSF meal, BSF oil, koi food for color enhancing, shrimp supplement, and organic fertilizer.

The BSF solution effectively tackles two problems simultaneously, offering a dual benefit to waste management and sustainable agriculture. Until today, Magalarva has successfully eliminated over 4 thousand tons of food waste and exported our products to four countries worldwide.

Magalarva’s History and Milestones

2017: Magalarva was established and processing up to 50 kg of food waste per day.

2018: Expanded to processing up to 1 ton of food waste per day and was selected to join the SKALA accelerator program.

2019: Secured USD 500,000 in funding and established a flagship facility in Bogor, West Java.

2020: Launched a Plasma Partnership with BSF Farms.

2021: Introduced Magma Shrimp 104 for Shrimp Farmers.

2022: Secured USD 300,000 in funding from the Bali Investment Club and scaled operations to process up to 7.5 tons of food waste per day.
